Blackberry Cup Cake

Cup Cake Heaven

I have to say that right now I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything I have to do to get the project ‘out there’. That’s why it’s been nice to sit down and indulge in something naughty, that’s full of sugar and spice. Cup cakes. Only a cup cake will do in situations like this.

When I spotted a tweet by @dishesandspoons saying they had boxes of cakes to give away I leapt to my keyboard and was lucky enough to be a grateful recipient of some fine-looking cakes.

So far, I have eaten the two cupcakes: the Blackberry one in the photo above, and the Apple-pie and Custard cake in the photo below.

Apple Pie & Custard Cup Cake

The Dish Ran Away with the Spoon

So, I can attest that Anna makes truly delicious and interesting cup cakes:

The Blackberry cake (which I have called Brambly) was full of brambly goodness with a texture rather like a muffin: moist and fruity. The icing was delicious; slightly tangy, piped to perfection and topped with a juicy blackberry.

The Apple-pie and Custard cake was creamy with a hint of vanilla which complemented the thin slices of spiced apple. The sponge was rather like a crumbly fairy cake, topped with comforting custard.

Most enjoyable…

Lemon Drizzle Cake

The other day I was sitting at my computer eating yoghurt straight from the pot as I updated this blog, when I noticed a recipe for Lemon Drizzle Cake on the wrapper. Anyway, today being Sunday, I decided to make it. It’s yummy and easy to make. You can find the recipe on the Yeo Valley website.

Happy baking!
